Beta and Invitation Participation Terms
Slug: /legal/beta-terms Version: 0.2.0 Status: OWNER APPROVED — 0.2.0 Proposed effective date: [PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE] Audience: People invited to participate in an Echoes of Eidolon beta and guardians of invited eligible minors.
Plain-language summary
Echoes of Eidolon beta participation is invite-only. These terms explain that an invitation is separate from payment, that beta software and progression can change or reset, and that paid transactions still carry their own obligations. They do not impose a blanket confidentiality or streaming rule that the owner has not separately authorized.

- What changed / version notes
1. Invite-only participation
Beta participation requires an invitation or other admission authorization issued by Eidolon Gaming. Receiving access is discretionary and may depend on testing needs, capacity, eligibility, safety, geography, platform readiness, or other operational factors. An invitation is personal and non-transferable unless the invitation itself expressly permits transfer.
2. Eligibility
The ordinary participation rule applies during beta: standard participation is 18+, ages 14–17 may participate only with valid parent or guardian permission, and people under 14 are not eligible. A 14–17 participant may not use the participating game experience unless valid guardian-consent evidence exists.
3. Payment does not purchase access
A subscription, donation/support contribution, or merchandise purchase does not purchase a beta invitation, admission, access priority, queue position, or invitation fast-track. Paid status must not be presented as a way to obtain admission.
Authenticated eligible beta participants may subscribe or make qualifying support contributions after they have access, subject to the applicable payment terms. Membership is optional and is an entitlement, not an admission or authorization role.
4. Beta software is unfinished
Beta versions may contain bugs, incomplete content, performance problems, temporary placeholders, balance changes, experimental systems, and features that are later revised or removed. Availability can be interrupted for testing, maintenance, security, migration, or deployment work.
Participating in beta means accepting that the service is still being tested; it does not mean giving up transaction remedies or legal rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
5. Progression, resets, and data changes
Beta progression, structured game state, settings, and other non-transactional beta data may be reset, migrated, rebalanced, or changed as testing requires. Unless Eidolon Gaming makes a more specific written promise for a defined feature or paid period, beta progression or feature state is not guaranteed to survive a reset, version transition, or release.
Transactional records—such as completed payments, refunds, support-contribution grant history, subscription history, and legally required accounting or audit records—are governed by their own policies and are not treated as disposable gameplay state.
6. Testing feedback
Participants are encouraged to report bugs, accessibility barriers, confusing behavior, inaccurate output, and other useful feedback. Feedback can include descriptions, reproduction steps, screenshots, logs supplied through an authorized channel, or suggestions. Do not include passwords, payment-card data, access tokens, recovery codes, government IDs, or other unnecessary sensitive information.
7. License for feedback
If you submit feedback specifically about the product, you grant Eidolon Gaming a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, and incorporate that feedback for product development, testing, safety, accessibility, support, and documentation. This license applies to the feedback itself, not to unrelated pre-existing creative works or personal material that merely happens to be attached to a report.
If a submission contains third-party material, you must have permission to provide it to the extent necessary for the requested use.
8. Confidentiality and sharing
These baseline beta terms do not themselves impose a blanket confidentiality obligation because no general confidentiality rule has been supplied as an owner-approved product rule for version 0.2.0. If a particular invitation, test build, feature, event, or pre-release disclosure is subject to a separate confidentiality term, that restriction must be presented clearly and accepted as applicable before it is enforced.
Similarly, these terms do not themselves create a blanket permission or blanket prohibition for screenshots, streaming, or publication. Such use remains subject to the Intellectual Property and Fan Content Policy, any clearly presented invitation-specific restriction, privacy obligations, and applicable law.
9. AI-generated beta behavior
AI-mediated fictional characters and systems can behave differently between builds or model configurations. Generated dialogue may be wrong, inconsistent, or unexpected and is not automatically authored canon. Player interaction content may be transmitted to OpenAI as needed, subject to the Privacy Policy and AI/Automated Interaction Disclosure. The Eidolon application does not intentionally persist raw player/AI conversation text as ordinary gameplay history.
10. Paid transactions during beta
Subscriptions, qualifying support contributions, and Store purchases remain governed by their transaction-specific policies even if the surrounding product is in beta. A beta reset does not by itself cancel a completed payment, erase an approved refund, or rewrite consumed Member history. Payment, refund, and entitlement status remain server/provider authoritative.
11. Membership during beta
A subscription will never be required. Membership can provide current perks, but it does not create an invitation, administrative authority, moderation authority, access priority, or a guarantee that a mutable beta feature will remain unchanged. Membership time follows the calendar-month rules in the Membership and Subscription Terms.
12. Removal or suspension from beta
Eidolon Gaming may suspend or remove beta access for material conduct violations, security risk, fraud, compromised accounts, testing-capacity changes, legal requirements, or discontinuation of a test. Where appropriate, the affected participant may receive notice or a review path. Serious security or safety issues may require immediate action.
Removal from beta does not eliminate rights relating to already completed transactions, approved refunds, or personal-data requests.
13. Changes to or end of beta
A beta can be expanded, narrowed, paused, migrated, or ended. Eidolon Gaming may also change eligibility, testing scope, supported platforms, or feature availability prospectively. Material changes to paid commitments will be handled under the applicable transaction terms and mandatory law rather than being silently absorbed into the general beta disclaimer.
14. Contact and help routes
Beta account/gameplay issues and testing reports: /account/support. Signed-out users seeking Player Support should sign in and return there.
Security reports, legal notices, accessibility feedback, or company-level inquiries: /contact. Player support messages should be sent from the Support tab, not this webform.

16. What changed / version notes
Version 0.2.0 establishes the owner-approved invite-only beta rules, separates admission from payment, permits beta resets without promising progression persistence, preserves paid transaction obligations, limits the feedback license to product improvement, and does not invent a blanket confidentiality or streaming rule.
